Default Wrapped exhaust now melts my cover.

Does anyone make a cover that won't melt when next to wrapped exhaust? I was using a walmart cover and that worked fine with the stock exhaust but my wrapped exhaust melts it.

I have to cover my bike at work because of the crap that falls out of the stack. This stuff is very bad and ruins your paint instantly so even waiting 10 min for it cool off isn't really an option.

Help!

We have already tried to let them allow us to pay for and build for our own carports but they refused for liability reasons.

Would multiple layers help?

I wouldn't think so. The layers would still get hot unless you had many layers. And that might create other problems. I used to use covers I bought at local motorcycle shops. Most of my bikes over the years have been Jap bikes, and the covers in those shops were lined with something that wouldn't melt. The only problem I had was that the covers would get threadbare after using them for a while and I had to put a few strips of duct tape over the weakened parts. I put the tape on the inside so it couldn't be seen.

Threadbare from the flexing during daily use. Putting them on, taking them off, wind causing the cover to flex all day while in the desert sun, etc.. But they wouldn't melt when pressed against the pipes. However, they did cost about $30. And the Walmart covers that I currently use cost much less.

It isn't a matter of being cheap. Since I don't work anymore, there is no need for me to worry about putting covers near hot pipes. But if that was still a consideration, the extra money would be worth it. The same type covers, lined to prevent melting, are probably sold in Harley shops also. But as with most everything else, if it has "harley" written on it, it is probably made of gold. At least priced like it is.

Just take the cover to a upholstery shop and have a couple of pieces of leather sewn to the inside of the cover where the pipes touch. Doesn't have to be leather, but at least something that is heat resistant.
