Performance heads
I love my nightster but it just doesn't have the zip I want. My dad thinks I should port/polish the heads and a buddy of mine thinks I should go after market.
Whats the best option, port/polish the stock ones or go after market? If after market whats the best bang for my buck? fyi- I'm not rich!
unrelated- does the Vance & Hines Fuel Pak give power increase worth the money? I know it would pay for itself instead of EFI remapping.
No arguing about torque vs. hp.
THANKS FOR YOUR TIME!

nrhs is where i'll be going when i finsh working on home projects and can free up some coin.
buy a set already done, there is more to it than you may think and it don't take long to ruin them if you go about it wrong........save your coins, sell your heads on ebay to help fund the new ones ?

Give Head Quarters a try I have use both them and Zippers, Head Quarters is the only place you will find that can put 85HP to the ground and not have to change the cams. It works I know.
What ever you don't buy a set of those junk stock factory heads Buell or Screamin Beagles.
For a street driven bike that isn't run on the red line all the time ported stock heads make more power on the bottom and midrange where most people spend 99.9% of there time riding. 883 heads work best to start with because they give the porter much more material to work with.

I haven't been able to research the different options ya'll gave yet because I been doing a lot of traveling for the holidays, I want to look into every option so that I will know what I'm paying for. It doesn't look like I will do this for awhile or at least until I get done with boot camp, but it gives me something to do. I leave in March.

NRHS doesn't have the best machine shop around. They're just a parts
seller and they farm out their machine work. Here's a head ported by
them last summer.... when questioned they admitted that the guy had
only been machining these for three weeks and didn't realize that the
oil passages are closer to the manifold in some years heads...
Damn where's all that oil coming from ???
Oops... just a little hole ...
Check out Sick's or Jag's links (don't know those guy), or my buddy Frank
who used to do all of Indian Larry's engines... just stay away from NRHS.
