Default First cheapest mods I can make

What are the normal initial inexpensive mods that Sportster owners make?

My first mod was a chrome air cleaner cover. The dull black on that came with my 2003 883r was ugly as hell.Them I had to get the chrome oil tank to match it.Then I got the chrome belt guard.......... It still isn't done after 5.5years

Each to their own taste, I guess.

One of the reasons I got an 883R was [I]because[I] it had lots of black stuff on it. If I had bought an 883C, for instance, I would probably have found myself making your mods in reverse: black air cleaner cover; etc.

Depends on what you're trying to make your bike look like. Do wanna chop it, or do you want to chrome it out, or make it fast, or....................?
You can change the grips and the bars.
Forward controls
Install an oil cooler
New shocks
New mirrors
K&N air filter
The list is endless

My first mod was the front turn signal relocation kit. The kit was cheap and I installed it myself. My turn signals were mounted on my handlebars. Now they are nicely mounted to the lower triple tree. The kit from Harley was surprisingly cheap. Under $30 if I remember right.

Free mods: remove the DOT approved reflectors front & back, remove upper & lower belt guard, remove triangle piece on licence plate holder so plate will lie down flat.
Cheap mods: relocate front signals ($40.00), smoked turn signal lenses ($40.00), new handle bars ($50.00), new gas cap ($30.00).
Most important mod: slip on's ($150.00 to $300.00)
