Default new 2007 883 dark plugs

883/2007/w/v&h short shots. high flo air cleaner W/fuelpack. plugs burn rich. checked at 2000 Mi. on block. no build up, just dark plugs. new oil at 1200 Mi. should I run a hotter plug? I asked fuelpack if any upgrades. answer, NO.
Motor runs great! any answers or help?

If it runs good,no pinging,starts easy,leave it alone,if it ain't broke don't fix it.

if your gap isnt set correctly than you could be getting the right mixture but its not burning properly. its either too close and not enough fuel is getting burned, or its too wide and the spark is weak.

i just had to deal with this on my ducati, i wondered why the front was rich and the rear was lean, but the gaps were WAY off spec from my manual. changed it and it runs so much smoother and 800 miles later no discoloration besides the regular tannish color

Probably a little on the rich side.If it runs okay I would leave it alone unless you start fouling plugs too fast.Much better to be a little rich than a little lean.Lean will burn valves and pistons.

Certainly check the gap - my experience is that 'pre-gap' on new plugs out of the box aren't precise. Might try to index them, too for optimal.
