Breather Back plate

Breather Back plate
When I bought my Sporty it came with an extra Breather back plate in this photo
My bike currently has this installed.
My question is which is better for performance. The guy who owned the bike said he installed the first plate and the bike didn't seem to run as well so he put it back to current configuration.
I also want to install a K&N Air cleaner so is there any other considerations like jetting?
Thanks
Bill

The one that is not installed is the stock backplate in it's original condition. The backplate that is shown installed is the same backplate with a majority of it cut off. They both appear to have the same part number.
Since the bike has a modified backplate, I suspect the carb has already be re-jetted. Unless you can find out the history here, they only way you can tell is to remove the jets. They have a small number stamped on the bottom that indicates the jet size.
Also you didn't mention anything about the exhaust. From your signiture picture, the pipes don't look stock. That further makes me believe the carb has already been re-jetted.
