thats WAY too big, the smaller the pipe the more exhuast velocity, harleys need at least 300 fpm velocity to work well, and they get this in stock config from the stock 1 3/4 inch pipes. bigger pipes slow this down and the engine cant breathe, your running pipes that are worse than stock right now!

your current pipes are not "freeflowing" they are hurting the bikes power SO much, no wonder its so slow!!

There are a lot of posts saying it helps boost low to mid range torque. Does that mean it hurts in the upper range? BTW what qualifies it for low and mid range (rpm wise)?

you started like 4 threads about pipes right now

heres the facts

stock 86-03 pipes are 1 3/4 inch diameter, and have a crossover pipe between them under the aircleaner.

this crossover boosts low end torque and to my experience does not hurt high end power.

the pipes are designed for the best exhaust flow for the displacement.

the only limiting factor in stock pipes is the mufflers, which slip off and can be replaced with better ones.

do it already!

PS i had the crossover, here is a pic of my bike before the current paintjob with everything "stock" i say it like that becuase it only looked stock, has a lot of work done do it. point is, the crossover is there for a reason and it DOES help, it just doesnt LOOK as great as the dual pipes. so it was moved, but no longer performs like it did.
