Default 08 1200C Getting 30 MPG

Just curious what you all think about my 08 1200C getting about 30 mph, mostly in town driving, 3rd gear and sometimes 4th. Is this about normal or on the low side? The bike seems to be running excellent, haven't noticed any black smoke or anything like that.

A couple questions for you: Are you still in the break in period? (gas mileage is poor during break in) Is your mileage being determined by when the warning light comes on? (sometimes the warning lights come on far sooner than .9 gallons).

I would say that 30mpg is somewhat poor... My bike was getting about 38mpg during the 1000 mile break in... After the 1000 mile service it was significantly better... Until I completed the stage 1... Now I've leveled off at about 40mpg average.... Not great... But the bike runs like a raped ape, so I'm not complaining.

Actually it has about 1900 miles. I bought the bike with 1660 miles, so don't know much about it's history during that time. I have been using the trip odometer to compute the MPG.

in town in 3rd or 4th gear? sounds like a bit of lugging going on, what speeds are you running in those gears? Lugging the motor will give you some poor milage, among a host of other problems.

Main streets are 40 to 55 mph, use 3rd or 4th for these. Side streets are 25 mph, use 2nd for these. No, don't think lugging is the problem here.
Any one experience a low mileage problem, then find a remedy?

I would settle for anything over 40 mpg for my driving. I have a concern that at 30 mpg, there may be something wrong.

What kind of exhaust you got on there? Could be a problem.

They are stock original. The only thing I have found not stock on the entire bike is some trim on the lower frt fender.
