Default rear shocks?

Looking to change the rear shocks on my '05 1200c as standard ones bottom out when two up on the pot-holed tracks that us brits call roads.Ideally want set of progressive shocks but money is a bit tight at the moment.Have been told of a pair of Dyna shocks available. Are they stiffer than Sporty ones?Problem only happens two up 'cos being a lardy type have standard shocks set up to stiffest setting solo

Hi Bob, I had similar problems but found that altering the pre load was sufficient for the two of us, but we are both lightweights.

A number of people have gone over to Progressive shocks. I'm sure I've also seen a couple of posts from people who said theyve installed Road King rear shocks on their Sportsters and suggested this was even more comfortable than the progressive shocks.

I'm sure the many people far more knowledgable than I on here will give you more specific help and tell you if my recollections regarding RK shocks on a Sportster were merely alcohol induced hallucinations. Hopefully not, because I quite fancy following that route.

Best of luck.

I installed the 12" road king shocks and it made a big improvement riding 2-up. You can adjust the air pre-load as needed for rider weight

Ebay has them all the time from $30 on up but you'll still need to get the air lines and shrader valves. I've thought about trying them but a number of light wgt. folks say they're better suited to someone over 200lbs. and riding 2-up often.

Those look like aftermarket shocks, where did you buy them?

EBAY. Wish they were OEM, but they are working just fine. Plus, I wanted the 12" model with standard valving. The OEM 12" models that come on the street glide have a stiffer valving (at least that is what found out during my research). These are valved the same as a standard 13" RK shock.

You can usually get the aftermarket ones on ebay but www.easternperformance.com sells them new as well and has a regular site plus ebay store.
