Default Mirrors

Need pro's and con's of turning them upside down. Am putting on 1200L handlebars on my XL883 this weekend and would do then of course.

Pro: You'll actually be able to see what's behind you, instead of admiring your shoulder/tricep in 1/4 to 1/2 of the mirror.

Con: The mirror is lower which will pull your center of vision down lower towards the road, instead of your vision being higher/slightly to the side of your path of travel.

This is one reason I'm switching to 12" or 14" apes & flipping the mirror(s) to below the bars. It will make for a more comfy ride, ( atleast for me), and the mirror(s) will be raised back up a bit so I will not be looking down at the road & I'll actually be able to use my mirror(s)....I only have one mirror right now & even with the long arm mirror, I still see half my shoulder/tricep in the mirror.

I think on 1200L bars flipped mirrors will hit your leg when turning or come close to the tank. I tried running my mini 3" round mirrors flipped on my mini apes and all I could see was my jacket, arm pit or elbow unless I raised my arm up. I think with taller apes a singel mirror (where allowed) looks okay but overall I don't car fo the look of the mirrors flipped downward especailly the large stock mirrors.

Very interesting, (to me), because I was going to go with the small round mirrors flipped down.....Hmmm,, something for me to ponder.

I should clarify that when I did have mine flipped briefly with the mirror angled fwd. and bars pushed farther fwd. I could see okay but it was not the best with the 3" round mirror (probably would work out okay with long oval slender mirrors.

but what you see in the mirrors will be upside down as well...

Small round mirrors upside-down are the only way to go! Stock mirrors and most of the aftermarket mirrors are just dumb IMO.

Up side down mirrors on drag bars looks sweet especially on my nightster...

just got to get used to the warning message on the mirror,

"Objects in mirror are upside down"

I see very well out of my mirrors, just as stated above sight of vision is a bit lower than usual. What the heck they look good.

I recently flipped my mirrors upside-down and I think the view behind me, like a few others have said, is better. The different perspective just takes a bit of getting used to and some fine adjustments.

Con: Having to relocate front turn signals.

Remider: You will have to swap them left/right for it to work out correctly.
