Default What do u think ??

Hi all

Im a newbie and considering buying a HD
I went yesterday to our local dealer to see what they can offer me ...

I have had seen the XL 1200C and I liked it .... but he told me, "I'd recommend you to get Dyna Super Glide Custom, as this would be ok when u get used to the bike ... but if u got the XL u might feel its small after a while"

so guys what u think?? is he making a point or just try to sell on me the expensive one !!

I have budget constrain and cant afford the Dyna !!

I'm 6 feet & 187lb

thxxx

I bought another bike this last July. I had not ridden since 1980. I really wanted a sportster, but my local dealer told me the same thing, that it is too small and I should go to the bigger bike. I am 5' 11" with 36" inseam-all legs. Well, I finally went 180 miles to another dealer to look. He did a much better job helping me try out nearly every bike in the shop for fit. I was confident after that, that the sportster is what I was going to get. I definitely need the fwd controls, but I very much love my sporty. I got the 1200R.
I say try out everything you can and decide for yourself.
The only advantage I see on the Superglide is out on the open road, it should be a bit more comfy. For every other aspect for me, I prefer the Sporty. It is lighter, easier to handle just puttering around town and definitely quicker.
You just get the bike you want and don't worry about dealer BS.

I'm 6' 2" and 200lbs and just got back from a 2 week 3000 mile trip. No problems, I love the Sporty. Be sure and consider the low mileage used bike market, there's a lot of them out there right now at real good prices.

He's a salesman...of COURSE he's trying to up-sell you!

If you like the Sportster....get it...you can always trade up on the Dyna later, if you ever get the urge.

I'm 5'11", 178 lbs...no problems w/comfort here...I got the Sporty cause I love it...if budget is a factor, it's a no brainer. As cHarley says, there are plenty of low mileage late model choices out there at good prices. Bottom line, if thats what you want, get it. A side note here...I was in an accident 3 wks. ago and my Sporty was totaled...when I am fully healed, even though I'm gonna have a nice ins. settlement, another Sporty will be in my garage!

Like cHarley mentioned check out the used market. Check out your local paper, Craigslist, this site and other sites and you will proabley be able to find a really good deal on a low mileage sportster with extra goodies with it for a lot less you would pay at the dealer.

I bought an 05 1200C in July for a really good price, so much so the bank wanted to loan me the entire price, and lots of extra goodies. The best of which is the wide glide front end and lots of chrome.

Welcome to the Forum glad to have ya!
