Default Clutch going?

Think it's clutch time. It's getting harder and harder to pop into neutral from 1st or 2nd.23k for miles, seems a little early.

Try adjusting the primary chain tension and the clutch first.

That there is some good advise, might want to inspect your clutch cable and lube it also.

...23k on your first clutch?

Unless you drive like a granny, that sounds pretty good to me... I burnt through the last one in 5k miles...

I must drive like a granny. 73k on one. 53k on the other. Heck, my truck has 153k on it and still has the original clutch on it.

Amazing!

...sounds like your vehicles may need more power...

Sounds like the clutch probably needs adjusting. Mine did totally fall apart at around 25,000 miles, but the symptons weren't that I couldn't get it into neutral.

I don't mean adjusting the clutch cable, although you might look at that also, but I mean adjusting the clutch itself. In my case the clutch was both slipping and dragging. Turned out the main spring plate in the middle of the clutch pack had come apart and the brass rivets were floating around in the clutch basket.

WHAT A MESS....Thankfully, it was still under warranty and was determined that the main spring plate was defective from the factory.

Just about everyone I know (including myself) get at least 50,000+ miles before a clutch pack replacement is needed...

Some guys have very high mileage bikes and are still running the original clutch pack.
