to cover or not
Greetings
I'm storing my bike in a shed this winter and wondered if it was necessary to have a cover on it as well ?

Might as well, It will keep some of the dust off of it. I put one on mine even though it's sitting in my basement rec room.

Well the reason I ask is that there are various types (for short term, long term, breathable etc) and they aren't cheap.

It might be worthwhile if you are in a humid environment, or an environment where the temp and humidity change a lot. The issue would be rust.

Well just cover it with a bed sheet... That will breath plenty, and will not hold moisture.
Another tip i was told by an old timer... When you ready to store you bike, wax the chrome and wheels, but do not rub off the haze.

+1 Something like that to keep the dust off, and still let the air circulate. If you want you could buy a heated blanket and keep your bike warm

Dude....You can pick one up at Wally-world or on the NET for like $30.
Oh, and you could give it a good bath before you put it away followed by spraying the entire bike down with WD40 to keep the moisture at bay.

go to wallmart get the $20 cover... put some charchole on a paper plate as well as some moth *****... put that on your seat and under your bike... the charcole will actually absorb the mosture under the cover that builds up from the temp changes and prevent rust... moth ***** will keep away the little ones that want to make the HD a home for the winter... regular old grill charchole will work just fine... done it now for years! used to keep my bike in college in a little barn... came out one year to a rusted mess... dad told me to do this and NEVER had a problem again!
