Default Sportsters w/ windshield

Just installed a sport windshield on my 00 1200 custom. I like the look and it blocks the wind off my face. I was skeptical about putting on a windshield until a fellow worker with a Sportster rode to work and he had one. I liked the look and decided it was time to stop eating bugs. Have any one of you had a long experience with a windshield and if so can you comment either way...negative or positive, do you think they look OK etc. Thanks.

I have the quick-detach low profile windshield. I like it fine looks-wise, and it keeps a good job keeping the wind off my chest, especially on the superslab at 70+ MPH. I get a bit of buffetting, though - my sunglasses will dance all over the place and it can be a bit annoying. And my girlfriend says she actually gets more wind with the windshield than without. Overall, I like it a lot... My 2 cents!

Yes, down the highway they are great. Get a quick detach to change it up once in awhile. The one that clamps right to the forks works great. I would relocate your blinkers down to the side of the forks too, they will reflect on the windshield if on the handlebars. Overall I like to have one.

I also have the sport windshield and think it works great around town. I prefer the look of a bike without a windshield, but the comfort is better for me so I keep mine on. If I was mostly long-distance touring though, I think I would switch it for the touring w/shield as the sport does cause a little buffeting.

I have always had windshields on past bikes (for safety and comfort reasons) and this Sporty will be getting the 'quick detach low compact' very soon.

I have the quick release and it works nicely. The Sportster does look better without it, but when it's cold out there it sure is nice. Does an admirable job of collecting the bugs, but the the few that get over the top and into my teeth don't taste all that bad.

Got a quick detach one with the wife's 1200. I rode without it the other day and didn't like it. I kept if off until she is more confortable riding it, then I'll put it back on.

I've ridden with a windshield a few times and although it's more comfortable on the highway I'd rather not have one. I don't like the look of them and most of my riding is on back 2 lanes and I just don't like the look of the windshiel in front of me, I can't really explain it. For a softail I might consider going with one, but not on a Sportster in my oninion.

I like the looks of that windshield. Is it the H-D one?
