Default How actually "American made" is an HD??

I am a proud owner of a 1200 XLN and love it completely!! There is no other bike for me personally. However, while browsing helmets, gear and such at my local Victory/Yamaha dealer and chatting with a salesman, he said that Victory is the "most American made cycle out there." I am aware that HD's are assembled in the USA, but how much of the bike is actually manufactured here in the States? Like Ford and Boeing I'm sure a lot is outsourced. For example, every single after market piece of equipment I have bought thus far for my bike was made in Taiwan. WTF? Someone please enlighten me on the American icon we ride and where they were "built?"

I know for damn sure that the rocker arm shafts and shifter shafts are finish ground in Brookfield, WI, about 2 miles from the Capitol Drive plant.

Well, when I swapped my rims, they had made in Australia stamped on them.
Victory's prob do have more US parts on them, but it doesn't really matter

It matters because it's nice to know what we are all riding on and passionate about. I would like to know if my bike was primarily made in a communist country or what? With all the hype of eagles and American flags everywhere associated with HD's, I'd like to know if it's reality or corporate commercialism. Thats all. How dedicated would we all be to the HD brand if it was 100% made in India, China, Thailand, or Yugoslavia. IT DOES MATTER!! It does to me...it should matter to all of us.

Well you already bought the bike so if it matters that much you should have checked before. When you find out the truth are you gonna sell your bike?

these days, it doesn't and shouldn't matter where things are made. What matters is whether you can afford them or not

I wouldn't care where my Harley was made, I would be still be a fanatic about it. However, you do not have a right to tell me what 'should' matter to me. So please stop preaching...

GLOBAL ECONOMICS. Without some out-sourcing, you wouldn't be riding HD squat. As long as the profits come BACK to HD which is an AMERICAN born, bred and run company, I don't give a rats *** who's 8 year old kid builds it!
