Default Ran over a deer this morning......

Yep, I ran over/jumped off a deer this morning on the scoot. I don't know how I kept it up, but I did. Thank God. Patchy fog, and I had just caught up to a county/state inspector that was in his/her normal rush to get to work.....(aka..read...doing 45 or 50 in a 55). I start slowing down to leave myself ample room just for scenarios like this. I think there's been about 10 to 15 deer hit in this 2 mile stretch of road outside my plant in the past two weeks. Well, next thing you know there's deer guts slung all over the road, and then I spot the deer come out from under his car and it's stretched across my entire lane. Can't swerve over into the other on-coming traffic lane because there was a car coming in that lane, and I can't slam on the brakes cause I'm still riding through the inerds(sp?)/guts/etc. So I held on tight, pulled my a$$ up of the seat, & grabbed as much throttle as I could trying to get that front end off the ground to clear the deer. All I could think of was "This is going to hurt". Nailed it square in the rib cage. All I've heard in my head today is the sound of those ribs cracking. Not sure how much air I got, but glad the rubber side landed down.

Reminder, if you hit a deer....Drag it out of the freakin' road instead of leaving it lay there for others to keep hitting it/running over. Now I've gotta go scrub deer guts off the scoot when I get home.....It should be baked in real good by that time.

Stay safe.....

Damn, that's one heck of an obstacle! Sure beats the 2x4 I ran over at the MSF course!

Dude, excelent job avoiding that one. Really helps when you keep your cool during things like that. Sucks that you have all that crap on your scoot to remove though.

YIKES!!! I hate those varmits! I wish all deer hunters a great season, and a freezer full of meat. They're everywhere around here. Even in my front yard at times.

Ya might wanna try oven cleaner for the deer guts. I had some squirrel guts baked on my pipes, and that was the only way I could get those off.

Default I don't know what kind of deer you have there

but here in Iowa they are the size of a horse ... and we have a lot of em ... deer scare me way more than cars ... glad you are ok, but I'm not sure if I would rather hit a deer out right or run over one the way you did - don't think either of those options would be good here
