Default Wwyd?

I'm usually over in the Softail area, but came over here to post a question for a friend who is thinking about buying a Sportster...She want's to know what a fair offer is without offending the seller (who she works with), but also without screwing herself over...Here's the particulars: '08 883, forward controls, "Diamond Plate" treatment on bars, pegs, levers. Oil temp guage, laydown license plate, everything else is pretty stock, nice looking bike - asking price is $6500, has just over 5k miles. Any advice you can offer her will be greatly appreciated - I'll have her drop in & introduce herself once she buys it!!! Thanks very much.

Actually, that's not a bad price already. She might be able to shake 6k in their face and see if they'll take it.

Picked up this "like new" '06 883L (2500 miles) for $4900. Came with forwards, factory security, bags, custom paint, engine guard, detach shield.

Sounds good to me.......NADA lists it at $6700 for the low retail and $8100 for average retail.

Sounds like a pretty fair price. I'd also go with $6,000 see where it goes.

Also find out about the 5,000 mile service. Unless you or she can do that, you'll looking at a couple hundred dollars if ya take it to the stealer for that.

With the way the economy is, I'd start it at $5,700 cash in their face. People have a hard time when they can see all those Benjamins.

Personally I wouldn't count mods that are less than $100 each when buying used. They took the risk in adding them and they should eat the cost of them.

Can get a new 09 883 Low for $6999 and not have to worry bout how it was driven the first 5k. They can go lower in my opinion.
