I have an 06 883L.. did alot to it.
I am only 5 foot tall so I had to modify it ALOT.. it is TOP HEAVY but I love the bike.. I love it more then.. well.. I'd rather not say! LOL
I will have pics when I pick it up today.. putting new V&H Shortshots and Big Sucker breather.. redoing the entire carb and so forth.. can hardly wait!

personally, i think the 883L looks perfect with the peanut tank, but that's my opinion.
I had an 06 883L and it was an awesome bike. I eventually did the 1200 upgrade to it and it became even more awesome. I put 10,000 completely trouble free miles on it before I traded it in on a deluxe. I wish i could have kept both. I do miss that sporty from time to time.
i think your wife will love it. the only caveat that i'll mention is that the 06 883l's are not as low as the 07, 08 and 09. The 06 has the same rear shocks as the custom model (12 inches) while the 07 and up models has 11 inch shocks. You can fix this by putting some 11inch progressives on it, which is exactly what i did in addition to the progressive fork springs.
also, the 06 has a carb, while the 07 and up models are fuel injected.
great bike that 06.

Lookin' for a Sporty for Momma. Thought about an Ironhead Nightster, but after checking prices, and talkin' 'round, thinkin' Hugger. The 00 - 03's, are down to 3500-5000 here, with zilch on 'em for miles.
FYI - if you get ready to do the 1200 upgrade, instead of buying the $$ kit. Have cylinders bored and honed, buy a set of racing pistons. About $400 or so, with gaskets, the full meal deal. And it will ROCK the socks off other 1200's. Jus' sayin'. Way plenty of meat in the cylinders to accomplish, NO prob.
