You've come to the right spot. This IS a Harley FORUM. Your scoot IS a Harley. They leak. Any more ?'s ?
It happens. They are mechanical devices, built by humans. Both have been known to 'fail'. IMFUO, get it fixed, you'll be jus' fine. Suffering from 'new' bike blues. Not a notorious prob TMK.

I don't do a ton of wrenchin' on 'new and improved' HDs, too many special tools, and electronic doodads. But I do, gaskets, seals, etc, etc. I just don't see or hear of a lot of this. When I do see it, it is usually a factory screw up during assy, or some such non-sense. All in all, the 'new' bikes, are better 'non-leakers' than our old ones. But I think that only stands to reason, with the modern materials and machining techniques.
Case in point, the 'new' K and P series from S&S. Just wished I could afford a K series. But, if I were to get that, and build a 'replica', I'd just 'wish' for something else. So, run what ya brung to the dance.
But I don't believe you have the makin's of a disaster on your hands, Hoss. (Like that handle, reminds me of Bonanza, not a BIG azzed sickle )

Not all Harley's leak.. Mine has never leaked or shown any signs of a leak and it has over 13,000 miles..
Poor workmanship as Harley is now being mass produced at a rate that quality assurance on the lowend Sportsters seems to be lacking.
Get your dealership to fix it and don't take it for granted when they tell ya it can be expected and is normal.
If you had the same type problem coming from you azz you expect a doctor to fix it wouldn't ya? and if your doctor told you it was normal??? what then??

typical leak for the 1200. probably a machining problem since the front jug doesn't leak (would indicate a gasket problem, i'd say). i need to get mine into the dealer for the same problem. lower rocker cover leak on rear jug. others with 1200's have complained of the same issue.
i'm wondering if it'll need a new gasket every 10k miles. that'll **** me off.
