- siphon the gas out of the tank
- disconnect the fuel line. its on the left side of the bike. disconnects like you would air compressor tools
- unbolt the tank (2 bolts)
- unscrew the fuel pump and carefully pull it out of the tank
- lift off the tank
this is how i did it when i repainted my tank. sorry if my expaination is confusing. i'm on meds right now.

oh and it would probably be a good idea to disconnect the battery..haha
yeah you can drain the tank that way...its a little more tricky. its best if you can at least run your tank kind of low.

- remove gas cap
- lift the tank off the bike and turn it over into a bucket.
- then after a majority of the gas is out unbolt the fuel pump and remove it
