I have added this to my 2008 Sportster and after getting it installed, I found that after starting the bike the display would always go to the total mileage. The original speedo could be set to stay on the clock or whatever you wanted as a default each time you start up. I played around with all kind of button pushing/ignition switch settings/whatever and finally got it to default to the clock ( although I don't have a clue which thing did what ). I carried the bike in for it's 1000 mile checkup and when I got it back the display is back to mileage default. I have tried almost everything I can and still can't get it back to the clock.
Does anyone know the sequence of how to do this?

I did ask the dealer. This is the first one they have sold and didn't have an answer. I wouldn't have posted here if I hadn't!

Yes it came with instructions.
Front of page -- about not tampering with the mileage (government stuff)
Back of page -- installation of unit and instructions on how to set the background color and intensity of background light.
