Question Tightening forward controls

Today a couple of times my left side forward control came loose and spun around enough so that it was in the position to put my foot on the peg to shift, it would fold up (except now its spun upside down so it just folds downward pretty much leaving me with nothing to put my foot on). I checked on the inside of the forward control and it looks like theres a cap there. I think I'm gunna put some loctite on it but my question is:

Can I unscrew the forward control and put the loctite on without having the cap or whatever is on the inside fall off and give me problems trying to put it back on?

A allen bolt should be going into the footpeg that keeps it from turning upside down. If it's not there you need one, and yes it should be loctited

Oh that allen bolt that is on the outside end of the footpeg extends to the cap on the inside of the frame?

Yes that and there is one were the peg assembly go's thru the mounting bracket.

Also if you don't have a shop manual, it really pays to get one

I'll look into one. Okay I just realized the allen bolt I'm talking about is only to tighten the footpeg from spinning. I'll have to find the other allen bolt you're talking about.

Should I look at 2002 only service manual or will other years work?
