Default seat repair

well I was getting a few light scrathces out of my tank last week using a buffer and accidently hit my seat putting a small slash in my sundowner seat right where the tank meets the seat. I went to pep boys and got a leather repair kit and tried to fix it but it looks like crap. anyone have their seat repaired before? any suggestions would be appreciated thanks

Remove the seat and take it to a professional leather repair shop near you. Auto upholstery specialists can do the work. Must be a ton of these on LI. They can remove the leather panel and replace it with an identical piece of leather. I tore my seat with a boot buckle the day after I got my bike. The repair cost me $60 and you can't tell the difference from the original panel...

BTW, leather repair kits will never withstand the stress a seat must bear. Fix it the right way and save yourself a bunch of frustration.

If it's not a big tear, you could just take the seat off, remove a couple of the staples in the seat near the tear, pull the leather down some more under the seat, and re-staple with a staple gun.

you know, I don't think the sundowner is leather, its vinyl. I would go with above, and say, go to an upholstery shop. I took mine around town and got quotes anywhere from $75-#300, to recover it. I just went with a who was cheaper, with a good reputation, and supplied the new leather and stingray for inserts myself. with a sewing cost of $175.
I don't see anyway a placement or a vinyl panel could be more than 75 bucks.
