Harley motorcycles are like pants ---They all look the same until you try them on
Get the bike that "FITS" you physically , financially and personally.
If you are going to do a lot of highway long haul riding ...the power and the 3gal tank MAY be a drawback? If you 6ft 5 and 300 lbs ...might be a little small for ya !
Get the idea ? --- I ride mainly around town and occaisional highway - I'm 5ft 4 and the 883 low is a GREAT bike for ME . PLENTY OF POWER and not a chick bike !

My dad just got done riding 800 miles one way to visit me and rode the black hills for a week. He held it at 60 MPH on the highway, and got 71 MPG. Yes, it's a 100% stock 2006 883...the last of the carbureted ones!
Makes me wonder sometimes why I didn't just save the money and get one of those over a Big Twin.
Oh, yeah, he had no problem staying with me in the hills either! Do yourself a favor and buy what you want and screw what others tell you. Sportsters flat out ROCK!
P.S. The bike below I am selling is a bike I built out of a sporty.
