I have a 21 on my 86 Sporty, I like the way it handles, I can outmanuver some bikes in my area the way I have it set up. But to each their own. If you like it and know of someone who has it done, ask them to try out the bike, and see how you feel.

Nope. 2 things:

1. Going to a 2 inch smaller tire only changes the height by one inch. Ther's only 1 inch of difference on the bottom (from hub to ground). The other inch is above the ground.

2. Totally depends on the tire, not the rim. It the OD of the 21 inch tire is the same as the OD of the 19 inch tire you won't have any change in height. Notice I said TIRE, not RIM. The larger rimmed tire can have less sidewall to equal out in height.

All will depend on your tire selection.

That's correct. In fact, if you use the standard Dunlop 100/90-19 tire, the front ride height change is more like <= 1/2" due to the fact that the 19" tire has a taller sidewall than the 21" tire.

Thanks guys that all make sence now. I do like your front wheel cHarley. I take it that a star wheel like that will never come out of true. As long as don't hit anything with it.

Thanks, it's an HD Thunderstar. I got lucky and snagged it (new) off Ebay for $175.

No, you don't have to worry much about a cast wheel loosing true. They don't tend to bend, they break if ya smack them hard enough.

I guess another benefit of running a cast wheel is that you don't have to run an innertube. While I like the looks of both, I have the 21" spokes with no plans to change mine. But if I did want to change, I'd probably look into that Thunderstar that CHarley has, its pretty good lookin'.

You lucky dog, I just noticed they cost $850.00 new. Thats something that has to wait, my main focus is getting the bike paid off as soon as possable.

what about wheel spacers/alignment with the new wheel? Did you have to do any changes with that? I am doing the same on my 05 21"spoke to 19" thunderstar.Any other technical info I need to know? Thanks

Agreed and to go even better, you can fit a 110/90/19 on that same rim no problem. My Roadster came ith the 100/90/19 57H and it now has the 110/90/19, which has not only changes the ride but that front end flat sticks.

It would only bring it down 1 ", plus I think your fender would sit 1' higher.
