Default 05 sporty oil dipstick problems!!!

My oil dipstick will not snap back down. I got it screwed in the hole but thats it. Most of the time when I ride the thing stays popped up. Is this a common problem and how can I fix it?

First, be sure you have the dipstick screwed down tight. Most take some effort to seat properly. The other problem is the seat compresses and the edge trips it. Many complaints, poor design. Lots of folks buy the dipstick with the oil temp gauge to solve the problem.

Have you tried rotating it 180 degrees when you insert it? It is designed to fit a certain way. There is a thick and thin vertical slot.

Just a thought.

Definite pain on getting it back in right.

+1 on the temp gauge dipstick.

Everyone has this problem in the beginning. When you think it's cranked enough, give it one more good hard twist. You think your about break it, then it's in place.

+1 on the oil temp dipstick! I never had a problem with mine, but I got the oil temp dipstick because I wanted to see how hot the engine gets in DFW, TX traffic with the ambient air temperature 105! It's also easier to use than the stock one.

+1 again on the oil temp, in fact you can have my old stock one if yours is hooped and you dont want to buy a new one.

I've been having some oil issues and have been checking the oil level way too often.
That stock design is a PITA, especially if you have any oil on your hand.

Didn't realize the oil temp cap made that much difference- guess I'm in the market.

mine would pop up while shifting my weight for tighter turns...then it'd get stuck on the edge of the seat...put the temp one in and it's all good
