The machine on my 00 XL1200S Sportster says 10w40 is best. . . I thought 10w40 was bad on rings, everyone avoided it like a plague. I quit doing my own oil changes a years ago and haven't checked it out, is 10w40 good stuff now?

Anyway what do you guys use?

The recommended oil is 20w-50 type CF or better.

 

Yeh, that's way too thin. I use 20w50

 

Probably means mechanic. Really cold weather perhaps?

 

Man I'm loosing it. I meant "manual". Missed it even after proof-reading it 2 times. . . .
Yeah I've had local mechanics tell me 20w50. Was wondering what everyone else uses.
