I've never scraped a peg in the twisties with forward controls, the jiffy stand or lower exhaust pipe will scrape first. I also have no problems with control using forwards, I guess you just get use to them. I'm 6'2" with 34" inseam.

Oh yes, other things scrape first, but as you go the pegs hit next Bit harder to lift your leg and get room to breathe with the forwards though.

it's also harder to get off the bike and lower a knee.

Nice bike by the way, that's a gorgeous 1200C.

Thanks,
I'm switching out my Sundowner seat next week for a Mustang Wide Vintage. It moves you back about an inch or so. I wouldn't think with the R model you would have a serious clearance problem, within reason, anyway. \

lol. I've grinded pegs on a CBR600, although I was being stupid at the time I've only really run out of clearance once on the R, and that was once too many - ground one of the brackets for the exhaust. Made sure to watch my speed better next time.

edit: Wide vintage, or wide touring vintage?

Problem is, it'll handle like a Softtail...

And the Scrambler I'm thinking about getting will handle better than either Meaning the sloptail won't matter as much.

I'm also considering giving up on my objection and moving to forward controls. Sat on a 1200 C - the forwards make it a LOT easier to get a comfy seat... I just wish they weren't so low.

Sigh. Decisions, decisions... Upgrade a sporty, or move to a big twin?

You can make the Sportster more comfortable and have more legroom with the mods already suggested. Trying the highway pegs is the least expensive before investing in forward controls or seat work. Either way, the Sportster will never be a bigger bike...you will need to get on a Softail for that. Not an easy decision, but it's yours...

+1 on all the posts about forward controls.
I am the same size as you - forward controls will help a lot !

I'm plenty comfortable with forwards and Sundowner seat.
