Yes my friend, so have I, and I've seen crushed cylinder heads from bad crashes off road on the Big beemers while I've been out with them. I've done a lot of dual sporting on the multiple enduros and that's why I'm at the point of wanting to build one vs. buying one and having to choose between modifying the **** out of a thumper that has no legs for the highway, or dealing with the giant GS on the technical 2-tracks. Sportsters are realitivly light and narrow, simple and air cooled with no need to adjust valves avery 7k.

Just trying to get a pic of the swingarm / engine / frame deal - searched google for days and still at Zero...

I had seen that video of the guy hitting a motocross track with that Sportster. Cool stuff, but I can only imagine what mods he had done for that.

Thanks - all the pics bring inspiration. That Black one is friggin 'spot on, like to shorten up the rear swing arm a bit for trail riding, but it's got a lot of great ideas on it !

Any GS rider without bash guards is an idiot, and with them, they won't be breaking heads.

You're also forgetting the new BMW 800/650 twins.

I'm not looking to reuse the Sporter swingarm or 80% of the frame, just the cradle tubes and the engine and building from there.

The Buell does not have a cradle frame, the engine is exposed with a mufler tucked under it, and it's belt drive -definitly not made for serious work off the beaten path.

The write up of this baja HD using a sportster motor is definitly what I'm shooting for.

Thanks for the link and the invite to ADVrider. I'm already one of the inmates there and go thru the forums and links day and night !!!

I figured I would ask here on this forum for the pics or description of the swing arm setup for the rubbermount sporties....
The belt was tested for offroad (they threw branches in it at speed), and the muffler on the buell is a freaking jack point - trust me, they'll hold
