Default Mini Apes and Stock Cables/Lines? **UPDATE**

Hey,

For those who added the black mini-apes on the Nightster and used the stock lines, how did you bend the brake lines without damaging them?

I read in order to re-use the lines that you need to bend them - true?

**H-D now selling black brake lines specific for the Mini-Ape Handlebar P/N 56075-07.**

Thanks

ok heres what you due use a set of flathead pliers and a towel to not scratch the small black tube. disconnect the one clamp underneath the triple tree but leave brake line intact. now cover the pliers with the towel and make a bunch of very slow and tiny bends at a time until you striaghten out the pipe. take your time and go slow theres no trick just be very gentle and patient.once your done your going to want to make sure the line wont touch triple tree when you put clamp back on and since clamp will be in a diff spot your going to want to get a rubber grommet liek the one on the rear brake line clamp to protect it. you can get it form your local dealer or go to autozone and buy some hose and use that to cover it. here are some pics.
this is the rear brake line i put the hose over this one and put the grommet up front.

this is how the front line should be mounted with the grommet

this is what the line now looks like

and your going to have t use the adjustments most likey for the throttle which are under the rubber boots

.

hope this helps if you have any other questions id be glad to give mroe of a walkthrough jus pm me

I just bent the line by hand. Only enough to make it fit. Same as pictures posted.
Slide bottom line in grommit and disconnect top grommit all together.

I routed the throttle cable outside of the down tubes by just putting the controls though the tubes.

Also took off on of the two clamps that hold the clutch cable to the frame

Did not have to adjust throttle

I suggest seperating all cables and wires, route and then reassemble. ie blinkers, controls, cables. This allows you to route the electric wires to make them nicer.
