Default Need Help starting problem 2004 1200c

Here it is. My bike will start with a charged battery. I can ride it and shut it off for an hour and it willl start fine. My battery is being charged by the bike when running. However when I leave it sit the battery drains. When I try to start it the starter stalls and tries to turn over after it stalls. The battery drains with the main fuse out.

+1 - But, if you are still on the original battery it's time for a new one anyway.

Do you have an alarm system?

Maybe a short somewhere? Just a guess but check the cables coming of the positive side to make sure nothing has rubbed bare and grounding out.

Something electrical must be staying on to drain the battery. You could disconnect the battery each time you shut it off for a work around, but that will get old fast.

With the key off, take the neg. cable off at the batt. Hook the clip end of a test light to the cable and touch the post on the batt. with the probe end. If it lights you have a draw. Have someone hold the light while you start pulling fuses one at a time. If the light goes out that is the circuit with the short.
