Default Engine Cuts Out

Before my bike gets warmed up when I'm at cruising speed the engine will miss and spit. A couple times this week it actually died all together and I had to pull over to get it started again. I've noticed that if I pull the choke out more then it won't do this. Is this only happening cus it's not warmed up yet and I put the choke in too soon or is this a sign of a more serious problem?

If the choke makes it run better, it means the bike is running lean. Try to adjust the idle mixture and check the spark plugs.

It only happens when the bike isn't at operating pressure tho.

operating pressure? Do you mean operating temperature? Where do you live? What's the ambient temp? How long did you warm up the bike? What year is your bike? Carb or FI? More info please

ooops... yeah I meant temp. It's a 98 so it's carbed. I'm in temecula, ca. I let it warm up for however long it takes me to put my gloves on.

Do not use the choke to warm it up, that's a good way to foul the plugs. Use the choke to get it started, then use the throttle screw to hold the throttle slightly open while the engine warms up. set the screw to just hold the throttle and loose enough so you can back it down as it warms up. if it continues to spit excessively, then maybe the carb needs some work, like either cleaning or some slite jetting.
