Yeah, I'm 5'10" and I have the 10" minis. These put my hands just below my shoulders and are very comfortable.

 

Go for the 18+ inchers. Who cares about comfort or control when you look cool!

 

I am really surprised that everyone who has them likes them and finds them comfortable! Not one person said they were uncomfortable.

My 2009 1200L had tall pulback bars, almost like mini apes, and they were really uncomfortable to me, they had me leaning back a little, and I had to do the death grip to hang on in the wind.
I put lower bars on and its much more comfortable for me, and I like the control and feel of lower bars coming from dirt bikes and Triumphs.
Not drag bars, but standard type motorcycle bars.

While I think apes look silly (polite term) they seem to work for a lot of people!

i have a 1999 883 i have stuck 16" apes on does anyone know the length of cables i would need to get.

 

check out j&p cycles and look up burly brand cable kits for ape hangers.hope this works for you.

 

im 5'10" and have 10" apes with 3.5" risers and my hands are about at shoulder height and i'm comfortable and mine is a daily rider .i want to go higher but due to post regulations i can't have them above shoulder level .
