Shifting clunk

They clunk, If it seems a little extreme you might want to check your gear oil level and believe it or not it's just as easy to change it. Do you know the last time it was looked at or changed? Drain it out the bottom and then fill it back with 32Oz's of recommended gear oil right in your little primary chain inspection cover. If you have a service manual you can also check your chain tension while your at it just to make sure.

I actually enjoy the clunk. It's the sounds of a good, hearty gear mesh
I remember reading another thread about this somewhere and someone commented they'd spoken to one of the HD engineers at a MoCo event who said they intentionally leave the clunk in the trans, though I suppose I need a cite for that to be taken seriously

Oh yea, the clunking is part of the Harley experience. no other tranny does this in my experience.
rode a v-rod recently and one of the many reasons I didn't like it was trying to figure outif I was in gear or not. very little feedback through your foot when shifting.
nothing better than sitting in neutral at a light, then banging it into first: clunk, go!
