Default Exhaust Pipe Help

Looking to put V&H Black Short Shots on my 08 Nightster. I got a quote from an HD Dealership and they recommended a race tuner and a screaming eagle air cleaner kit. Are both of these components necessary? I'm assuming they'll make the bike run better, but I wasn't looking to drop that much cash on parts and installation. I'm new to modifying bikes, looking for expert/professional opinion. I appreciate all of the advice/help on previous posts, thanks; the site is great for new harley owners.

There are some pipes that require a tuner, but surely not a new A/C. They were not selling you anything you wont use, just perhaps too fast for your budget.

I ran a set of vance&hines short shots on my dyna for almost a year, and never had any problems.
Don't get the race tuner unless you are opening up the motor. for bolt on stuff you will by fine with a power commander or a fuel pak.
Also, save your self some money and install the pipes your self. it is really easy. and if you run into trouble just ask some body on the fourm for help.

not necessary if ur just changing your pipes...yet. You will eventually want to get an AC and tuner later on to make the bike run better.
