I don't think it's cheap if you have to replace it often.

I also came across this website, to modify the quiet baffles.

That looks like it would change the exhaust note. But, if it is to loud for you try using ear plugs on longer rides. I through a set in if I know I will be riding for a while or know I am getting on the highway.

Unless you've got a bunch of money you don't want, I wouldn't spend the bucks on the HD mufflers. Even the dealers admit they're not really worth it and steer folks towards the V&H slip on's. If you use the "quiet" baffles the sound is nice and the performance is better. If you want it quieter, go back to the stock mufflers.
