Default My new ape hangers

I finally finished my 04 XLC ape install. These are 15" apes.
They are the perfect height for me and look great. The bike looks so much better IMO than the stock bars and riser.
Many thanks to Capt Matt here on the forum for his help with part numbers for the speedo tand for his advice. The installation was not hard. You do need the shop manual to make it easier. I had to extend the wires 15" and I used 1.5" risers.
Cables are Magnum polished SS.
Riding is much more comfortable and laid back. I feel like I have a new totally different bike!!
I highly recommend this change.

It looks good, I like it.

Where did you get the cables and brake line? I am getting ready to start ordering all the parts to add 12" bars to mine.

pretty sick. I guess my 10.5" are super mini compared to those. How does it do in cornering?

That's basically what you will need plus some brake and trans fluid and 12 and 14 gauge wire for extending the wires and heat shrink tubing.

I also replaced the levers with chrome ones and relocated the sig lights to the fork.

The bike corners great and really in the same ballpark as the stock bars only more laid back ride and comfort.
I live in the pocono mountains with tons of twistys and hills. The sporty is the bike of choice up here.

This is exactly what I was going to do at first however the apes do not look good IMHO on the curved stock XLC riser.
Instead of putting 12" bars on the stock high curved riser, get rid of the riser and replace with 1.5" straight risers and 15" bars. In the end you will have the same height but it will look a lot better.

You did the right thing, great looking. I like the ape sits on low riser, the best!

Also many thanks to Brad Weir.
http://sportster.bweir.com/
After I saw his 15" apes (a link that Matt sent to me) I was convinced that these were the ones to go with after looking at quite a few bars and sizes the past weeks.
He currently has his bars vertical. I personally prefer to have them in line with the fork angle.

thanks for posting the parts list. I assume that this is the chrome speedo bracket, would that be correct?
