Vance & Hines Fuel Pack ??
Can anyone help me with a Vance & Hines Fuel Pack Question ? I'm gonna change out the mufflers on my 08 XL883C with the V&H HS Slip on's, and change the air intake to either the HD or V&H type. Getting conflicting info on whether the V&H Fuel Pack is necessary or even worth the bucks. I just wanna make the bike sound better and pick up a little low-end power. Is it easier & cleaner to just recalibrate of the stock ECM ?
Thanks,

I have a fuel pak on my bike with a stage one and short shots. I highly recommend it. It is very user friendly and works perfect. I was thinking about just having the stealer re-flash my ecu once i put my goodies on but they want to charge $150 to do it. Well if you swap something else out on the bike later down the road, you have to take it back to the dealer and have them re-flash it again for another $150. I paid $215 shipped to my door for a brand new fuel pak off eBay.

Well, here's the latest. I went up to talk to the parts & service folks at the HD dealer. The parts guy said that the V&H slip-on's coupled with the HD high volume intake needed the fuel pack. Said that the ECM reflash wouldn't do the job. Got the same scoop from the service folks. All they said about the ECM reflash was that it needed the periodic updates from the factory (2 since May when I bought the bike). No additional charge for that, it's included in the service intervals. This is interesting bec if you do your own service, what are you missing. Anyway, I thought it was interesting that the dealer said not to go without the fuel-pack from the get-go.
