so, am i a biker now? awesome trip!
1664 miles in 4 days!!! woohoo! august 14-17
Well I went on an incredible road trip over the last 4 days. I was originally planning on just doing it on my own and staying at camp sites and wherever. However after talking about it with my best friend's dad he started talking about it with a few others and they all decided to figure out a plan. So it was 4 of us. Randy (my best friend's dad), Miguel (pal of Randy's) and Miguel's cousin Raoul and myself. Randy on the RK, Miguel on some honda, Raoul on Honda shadow 600 and me on my 1200R!
--Thursday we got up and left at 5:30am and drove 650 miles! We were supposed to only make it up to macon from Orlando but we got there about 1:15 or so and just wanted to keep on going so we made it all the way up to Robinsville NC. We never got rained on except for a small little bit heading into Valdosta, Ga.
--Friday we rode the Dragon. What a fun 11 miles! After that we just cruised around going east and stopped at a caverns and checked that out for a hour or so. We went into cherokee and then just back to Robinsville.
--Saturday was the best day! We did the 120 mile Cherohala skyway and deals gap loop, heading onto the cherohala skyway so that we could take the dragon the opposite way we came from yesterday! The Cherohala was awesome! It was like the Dragon except at 45mph+ just some awesome views and long sweeping turns. After that we went back through Robbinsville and off to Helen, Ga. Nice roads all the way into Helen as well.
--Sunday Randy and I went off from the other 2 since they wimped out and just wanted to go home. so after an excellent german breakfast of cold cuts and cheese at Hofer's we headed out to Stone Mountain park. We killed some time in there and took some photos. Afterwards it was just straight back to Orlando.
It was amazing! I was a bit worried for a while and expected to kick myself for not putting back on my crash bar or getting highway pegs. However, I was comfortable the whole way on the mid controls. Who ever says the sportster isn't a cruising bike is dead wrong! I did it without the windscreen too with no problem the only thing i did wish i had brought with me just to provide some entertainment was my mp3 player, but i never really needed. The whole time i never got bored or wondered when would be the next stop!
Now, i just need to plan the next one!
