Exclamation TSSM Help Needed

Attemping to install a TSSM on an 08 Sporty.
Following the link instructions - the ECM never
enters the password mode.

Ater clearing the code and starting the password
learning over several times - it only sets another
DTC "P1009 Incorrect Password EFI"
Both owner and factory manual of little help - but
does refer to the Electrical manual(don't have it)

The DIY links have are not displaying the charts...
I really don't want to trailer to the stealership.

Thanks
Eddie

I want to say that you are going to have to take it to the stealer. The ECM and TSSM are mated at the factory together, and if I remember correctly, it will have to be reprogrammed to match the new TSSM. That way someone can't just carry around a new tssm and easily steal your bike. Turn Signal SECURITY Module. Why are you putting in a new one?

The TSSM is a new install. Didn't purchase one when new.
I'm wondering if this is an 08 thing.
Seems many were successful at the DIY method.
May end up calling the dealer...

Get the bike on the trailer and take it to the dealer. 08 have to be programed by the dealer. The dealer should program it free of charge and it should only take about 30 minutes.

Eddieeddieg,
I used the below proceedure on my '05, except I waited 15 min on one of the steps (light did not go off) and moved on - worked fine - no stealer required - your mileage may differ though since you have the '08 and EFI.
Initializing 04-05 Ignition Module:

Please note that this procedure takes a total of 30 minutes to complete. I would suggest that you disconnect the headlight to reduce the drain on the battery.

After installing a new the new Ignition Control Module:

1. Set RUN/OFF switch on the handlebars to RUN.

2. Turn Ignition Key ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON, and then toggle the Left Turn Signal Switch twice.

3. Turn Ignition Key OFF, then back ON - Verify the Check Engine Lamp and Security Lamp illuminate briefly and then turn off.

4. Press starter button 1 time. The vehicle will start and then stall.

5. Wait 10 seconds. Security Lamp will illuminate

6. Wait until Security Lamp turns off or a minimum of 10 minutes has passed.

7. Quickly turn Ignition Key OFF then ON.

8. Wait until Security Lamp turns off or a minimum of 10 minutes has passed.

9. Quickly turn Ignition Key OFF then ON.

10. Wait until Security Lamp turns off or a minimum of 10 minutes has passed.

11. Quickly turn Ignition Key OFF then ON.

12. Turn Ignition switch OFF. Wait 15 seconds. Turn Ignition switch ON and start engine to confirm the Password Learn Procedure is successful.

Let us know what you find out
