New VH pipes on a Sporty

I just put the V&H slipon's. At first without the quiet baffle. It seemed to hunt and surge a bit. It was really loud. Once I put the quiet baffles in, it wasn't hunting or surging and the sound was deeper. Not quiet, but not as raspy.
Without the baffles, I might have well been running drag pipes.
This is all with the stock A/C on. As was mentioned above, if you change both, you should do something. For me, once I open the A/C up, I've got a set of Nightrider VIED's on the way to richen it up. The VIED's will go on before the A/C change to see how it reacts.

I put on the short shots, stage 1 and added a SERT. The bike friggin screams. Worth every penny.

Would there be a difference in the answer to this question whether slip-ons or short shots were used? (i.e. is rejetting needed with a short shots only addition?)

In my opinion, if you are just changing the exhaust, there is no need to rejet (carb) or get a remap (FI). You do want to make sure your bike is properly tuned after installation so as to not have your new pipes start to blue. The pipe manufactures do not cover blueing issues as this is caused by improper tuning. Just my .02.

yep, same here: changing headers/pipes only, there is no re-mapping or jetting needed at all.
but i agree with what someone else said. go all the way!! the Stage I SE A/C is around $130. get yourself a tuner(SERT or PCIII), and oh man what a ride!
just did this to my wife's Sporty. She can't believe the difference, particularly in 1st and 2nd gear. took her a couple of days to get used to the additional pull on that puppy
After the upgrade, she named her bike.....Nellie.....as in "whoa Nellie"....
she says it sounds "loud and nasty, just the way a Harley should"....what a woman
