I'm pretty sure the forward control kit sold by the dealer for the 08 models will also fit the 09. I can't tell the difference between the 08 and 09 Nightsters. Did they actually change anything?

I can't see any difference either but the dealer told me that it is alot different from the '08 and that it wouldn't fit. Of course, the dealer also told me that the nightster would stomp the VRod in a quarter mile run. I guess they thought that it would impress me.

There's no difference from year to year. All parts fit 07, 08, and 09s. As for the best parts, HD has the best accessories IMO.

Ya the MoCo has some cool stuff, too bad it's all back ordered till like sept/Oct. Still the same old story . . . . . show the stuff that folks want, and then make them wait and finally go after market.

Lovin' the feel and forgot how much fun the old sporty was. 30k miles on my 93 with a 3.3 hell you can go any where on a sporty, just get to stop more and see more.....

If it were true it would be impressive...
here:

The 2009 Sportster Family -

One of the big surprises in 2009 - no more Roadster. No more 883 base model either. The surviving five are the Sportster 883 Low, 883 Custom, 1200 Low, 1200 Custom, and the 1200 Nightster.

The iconic motorcycle continues to be the easiest handling 'gateway' bike to Harley-Davidson ownership.

"Ninety-four percent of people who buy a Sportster will buy another Harley," said Peter-Michael Keppler, Outreach Director for H-D's Motorcycle Product Planning.

In this year's lineup, the 'C' and 'L' models received all the love. The 883C, 1200C and 1200L all got suspension upgrades. The springs and damping rates were recalibrated and new damping devices have been installed. The custom models also get new wheels. The 883C gets a new silver cast aluminum solid disc while the 1200C receives a chrome cast aluminum slotted disc.

The only change seen across the board in the Sportster line is a front fender that sits closer to the tire. And while the design of the 2009 Sportsters is clean and they run better than ever with the 2007 addition of EFI, they don't have the same identity as they did with the Peanut tank mounted on the backbone and the front end chopped a little more and the Sporster logo emblazoned prominently on it its side. Guess I'm feeling nostalgic.

How much more of a markup did this guy try to soak you for with all his lies about the '09?

ummm depends on what parts your looking for but warehousedirec.com has alot of great sporty stuff. but yea all nightsters are same they didnt change a thing. i blieve the only change in 09 sportys was to the customs. i paid 400 for my set of fwds in black from dealer but my dealer has a promo when you buy a new bike oyu get cash to spend in the shop from them so i got liek 320 bux so my fwds only cost me 80 bux. and they knocked off prep an freight.

Not to hijack your thread, but what are forward controls? It seems to be a very popular modification to the bikes. I did a search on them and found everything from where to get them to how to install them, but i have no idea what they do.
