Well I have traded for a 78 sportster its been setting up&nbsp\\; for several years and I was told it was supposed to be rebuilt by a place out of tenn. the guy I got it from says several months&nbsp\\;after the rebuild it started pumping oil out the exasust pipe .Yes the exasut pipe, its my understanding when you start the&nbsp\\; bike it pumps oil out the exasust pipe I have pulled the oil pump and under the check valve the&nbsp\\;O ring was missing, according to what I have seen and read it is supposed to have two O rings and the one under the check valve is gone . Now heres my question ? Will that O ring missing cause the oil to bypass to the engine and pump out the exaust ?&nbsp\\; I can be contacted directly at&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; &nbsp\\;charleykoal1@yahoo.com&nbsp\\;

 

Replace the o ring and give it a shot? Is the motor locked from sitting so long?

As far as I know there is only one way for oil to get into the exhaust and thats thru the combustion chamber, either up past the oil control rings or down thru the valve seals. Its bad in either case.
