RE: question about shocks... 11 inch vs 11.5
I've heard people on this forum weighing 170 lbs with the heavy duty shocks and loving them. If you weigh over 190 I figure you qualify for the heavy duty shocks. If you ride hard or over lots of bumps and potholes heavy duty shocks would be ok. I'm a lightweight so I'm standard duty Progressive 412 all the way...and my 11" are MUCH better than stock. It's not miraculous, but much better. The heavy duty shocks have a stiffer spring making them harder to compress. That means a firmer ride.

If you don't mind bottoming out, and want a lower look, 11" \\;are ok. \\; (you will have 1.9" total shock travel)
I think your '04 1200C stock shocks are actually 11.75" \\; I put 12" HD 412 shocks on my '05 1200C and very happy I did. \\; most of the forum members who went with 11.5" have said they would have rather had the 12". \\; The 1" extra travel makes a big difference (over 50% more) \\; - You can get the exact size you want for about $195 from Eastern Performance.

RE: question about shocks... 11 inch vs 11.5
PR, the trouble with short shocks, (TN= Suspension dampers) is that the shorter they are the less travel they have. I went this way, I used a set of 13.5 inch Progressive 440 Standards with 3.04 inches of travel and LAChopper lowering blocks to prevent the right shock bottom end from contacting the top muffler, now I have a \\;\\\\\\;supple suspension, plenty of wheel travel and shocks that actually let the wheel follow the road contour without upsetting the bike or jarring my spine.

Shocks
I'm at 200 lbs. And have a sportster 1200 custom 2007 and i'm not happy with shocks. Done losts of asking and lots or reading on these forums. I ride my bike every day any where from 100-200 miles a day. I use my bike for work. I am a first time harley owner and im in the learning curve. Sportsters can be adapted for crusing and made fairly comfortable. I am doing this. As i change things i will list these on line. The biggest improvement soo far is the seat. I would ride 50-60 miles and my tail bone would begin to ache badddd! I put a sundowner touring seat on it,,, my riding buddy also did his and we love them. Best $300.00 bucks we've spent. 200% better for our wives over the stock seat. This sat!! We did a ride well over 200 miles and never felt the pain and fatigue we did on the stock sportster seat. I'm opting for heavier oil in the forks and dyna shocks on the rear for me and my wife and all the gear we will be to hot springs ark.
But remember when you are by yourself you dont need all this x.tra support. So try to find a happy medium.
I'm learning that you dont have to have the soft, tail or bigger bike to be comfortable i ride as much or more om my sporty and im learning how to customise it to my needs rather than spend $5000.00 more on a bigger bike

11" or 11.5"
I'm DIGGIN' my new 15" springs!!!!! Looks dorky as hell with all the air space under the fender, but they perform great!
