In the long run you'd be happier with a big twin... yeah its more expensive but you will&nbsp\\;be putting money into a Sportster anyway to make it more comfy...
&nbsp\\;
I would say wait... save some more money to get a&nbsp\\; bigger bike or go find you a good used big twin...

You sound just about right for a softy or a dyna....I'd go with what dbl said and sit on your cash for a BT...in the end you'll be happier.

Just a new guy's opinion here, but if you are going to buy a sportster, go with the 1200 as a lot of folks stated.
&nbsp\\;
I have a 1200 Low, with mid controls (I grew up on dirt bikes and feel confortable with them), with highway pegs when I want to stretch out my long legs.
&nbsp\\;
I've ridden Dynas, Softails and Touring. The Sportster was far better handling for me personally.
&nbsp\\;
Because&nbsp\\;of my long legs, the highway pegs were a must have. If I were more comfortable with forward controls, I would have gone for those.
&nbsp\\;
I'd go to the dealer, sit on a few bikes with forwards and mids and see which feels more comfortable and go from there.

At 240, you probably want to shy away from the 883, you might not be happy with the power difference, then again, you might not notice. I did.

Yeah she'll be comfy with the right seat. I look on ebay and see cheap bikes all the time back east. I've seen as new as a '02 wide glide for as low as $9500, just search around before you get all amped up to buy. Some think their bike is made of gold, then there's the ones who are just hurtin for money. I'm 6' @200lbs and my 1200 pulls me and my wife around just fine, besides, a 1200 comes with more HP than a pre 96" BT.

I would just keep looking online for a good deal on a used big twin. My 2000 FXST was extremely comfortable for two-up touring.
