Can anyone talk me out of buying a sportster

RE: Can anyone talk me out of buying a sportster
I am about the same size and just bought a 2008 nightster. I have no problems with it. Buy the bike that appeals to you and that you can afford ... there is always someone who will tell you to get something else for some reason of their own. Follow your gut. The 1200 pulls just fine. Personally, I dislike forward controls, but that's always on option if you feel cramped.

Started with a 1200 C for the same reason. Didn't want to break the bank on a learning experience because I hadn't ridden in 30+ years. It all came back quickly and I love the Sporty for 25-30 mile rides. Probably going to order a 09 Heritage shortly for the long cruises but not selling the Sporty. Hope my wife gets off the rice and wants the Harley shortly. BTW am 6' 235 and the forwards make all the diff. Good luck on your choice.

i am 6'2" and every bit of 235lbs.. \\; i have a 1200c.. i fit PERFECTLY.. \\; the stock seat isnt terribly comfy, but there are a number of seats available that are great.. \\; the 1200c comes with forward controls stock, so plenty of leg room.. dont listen to all the nay sayers, the sportster is a great choice.. \\; most dealers try to upsel you to a big twin, but dont listen. i love my bike.. but i would stay with the custom, you will appreciate the forward controls.
