Our 883 is a four speed too.&nbsp\\; You five speed guys have it easier.&nbsp\\; I do recommend a windshield for long trips.&nbsp\\; It was good for an extra hundred miles a day on the trip home from the dealer (6K miles).

I'm still running my 2002 XLH 883 with 110950 miles on it.
Original engine never opened up no head work just pipes and exhaust.

As to your 80 mph question.
Break her in right.&nbsp\\; 2000 miles of easy treatment.
80 mph for&nbsp\\;twelve hours 600 miles is not a problem.

 

Ive got 4,000 miles on it. Broken it right. Is the Sundowner a good touring seat to invest in?

 

That's what I (and many others) have on my bike.&nbsp\\; It's comfortable, but it alone won't cure monkey butt from a long day of riding.

do not repeat do not tour on an 883.Load it up on a trailer hook it to your huge rv that only gets 2mpg. ( support your local Arab) Drag it to where ever you are going then ride to the nearest bar where I will be the one riding my 883 and loving being the only one there on a small bike. Just kidding ride it like you stole it

 

We ride two-up all the time and ride 300 miles a day. The 883 does fine with the sundowner for a little added comfort. Last weekend on our road trip we rode on everything from gravel roads to interstate and the bike ran good.
