Full choke, 30 sec warm up &amp\\; do the rest of the warm up gently&nbsp\\;riding until I have the choke all the way in.&nbsp\\; My neighbors would get pretty annoyed if I let the bike warm up for 5 minutes.&nbsp\\; You will tend to get more carbon build-up with that much idling also.

I pull the choke full out and start the bike.&nbsp\\; Push it in half way and put on my helmet and gloves, push it in all the way and go.

If I let my bike warmup for 5 minutes I'm sure I would have a few neighbors tapping me on the shoulder! [sm=chairshot.gif]

I have EFI but I just start her up, take the opportunity to put on my helmet and gloves and hit the road. Max warmup for me is 30 seconds.

Same here. I start it in the garage and it warms up for as long as it takes me to back it out, close the door, fasten the helmet and gloves. Probably no longer than a minute maybe 90 seconds.
&nbsp\\;
Probably a little quicker with the car. Start it, fasten the seat belt, set the radio and I'm gone.
&nbsp\\;
If you notice, the oil pressure light goes out immediately. You know you have oil pressure. Now add another 10 to 15 seconds for it to pump through the engine. It's as oiled as it's ever going to get.

A couple of minutes max for a carbed Sportster.&nbsp\\; Push the choke all the way in within a minute or so, either at idle or underway.&nbsp\\; If left out, the plugs can foul.&nbsp\\; If the bike isn't warmed enough, you will sputter&nbsp\\;soon enough.

my owner's manual says "pull choke full out..... more than 30 sec idle time is not recommended.... push choke in halfway after 2 miles... all the way in 2 more miles..."

It shouldn't take more than a few seconds for the oil to circulate. My 08 1200 will falter in very cold weather if I don't let it run for about a minute max. Then I'm careful not to push it too hard for 2 or 3 miles. Until the engine is up to temperature, the head bolts aren't fully tight and you are more likely to&nbsp\\;blow a gasket.

Temps being in the 70 range I tend to crank it and after&nbsp\\;abotu 30 seconds I am gone. Rideing easy for the first couple of miles(out of the neighbor hood).&nbsp\\;

Do you think this is because the bike is cool or because I turned the fuel control off?
Bike is cool.

I fire it up and the time it takes me to put on my gloves and helmet close the garage door and I am out.&nbsp\\; I just take it easy for a few minutes on the road, no revving either.
