While riding the smooth mountain twisties, I always have to back off larger Harleys and usually pull off the road and wait a while until enough space is between me and them. Nothing wrong with a nice ride in the mountains, enjoying the scenery . . . , but I like to ride, lean, take corners, fast out. I don't think anything larger than a Sportster wouldn't fit my riding style.

I agree with everyone on here.&nbsp\\;Buy and ride what YOU like, not what someone else likes. Haters will always be haters so let them do their job and hate. If you haters out there have no one to hate on, please feel free to hate on me. I love the nightster. Its my first Harley ever, and I will never sell it!!

Well said. I had never rode one till my son bought a 05 XL1200C and [sm=jawdrop.gif]&nbsp\\;that thing runs. Who cares what anybody thinks. Get what you want and ride it. First year my son got his we went to Sturgis and a freind of his bought the same model. I followed them there and back.

you know it's getting to the point where some big twin owners won't even wave back to you when you ride by...what the???? Anyone who puts this kind of spin on riding must be a weekender/wanna be biker....because a REAL biker knows that ANY bike is freedom, and anyone riding is a brother/sister...this crap is for R.U.B.'s and wanna be's who think they know what's what...but don't have a clue.

Sportster is a good motorcycle.&nbsp\\; I think others like to put it down to somehow justify thier bikes that cost 2 to 4 times more.
&nbsp\\;
Get the bike that fits YOUR needs.
Fast fun quick handling Harley - Sportster
Versatile big twin - Dyna
Hands down fastest Harley - V-Rod
Classic Harley looks less vibration - Softail
Long Range - Touring

I had almost forgotten how much fun a sporty was until Saturday when the GF brought home a brand new 105th 1200 Low.
There's no way I'll feel out of place when she asks to trade bikes in the middle of a run. I still have the grin........

When others decide to pay for your bike, then maybe you can give them an ear.&nbsp\\; Until then, they can keep their mouths shut.&nbsp\\; Nobody else should have a say in how you spend your hard earned coin.&nbsp\\; Buy what you want, ride what you want.&nbsp\\; Period.&nbsp\\;

now, wait a minute...that is something to consider...if your wife is going to ride on the back of the bike and you can afford it....get a bigger bike!!! Not because the sporty can't handle the two up experience, but because your wife will be WAY more comfy on the softtail or Dyna....That would be the ONLY reason I would get a bigger bike if I could afford it. My wife loves to ride, but hates the ride, if you know what I mean.

Its your money.&nbsp\\; Spend it on what you want.
That said, the sportster is a great bike.
Its not so much a cruiser, although it does cruise well.
Its just a basic, all around great bike.
A hell of a lot of fun to ride one
