Sorry for all the questions. I am just trying to make sure I do the right thing on my first 1K mile service. I checked my check list on my 08 Nightster and I do not see a place where it says that I need to change the primary oil. It does say I need to check my primary chain every 5K miles but no where on my service list does it say anything about changing the primary oil. So I am really confused right now. I have a service manual coming, but I am afraid I will not get it before I need to do my first service. If I do need to change the primary oil on my bike can someone give me a brief how to do it. I found all of my drain plugs for my transmission and motor oil.&nbsp\\;

 

Did you look in the owners manual,under service intervals in the index? trans lub change at 1K.

In the maint and Lub section on my&nbsp\\; 07-O/M there are instructions on changeing the fluid, I would think that the instructions in your manual are about the same.

 

In Sportsters, the same oil is used to lubricate the primary and transmission.&nbsp\\; 28 oz or so.
