I smoke and get totally pissed when I see someone throw a butt on the ground. I tell 'em so, too. When riding&nbsp\\;I'll pinch off the cherry and put the butt in my little watch/coin pocket in my jeans, in a shirt pocket or in a jacket. I know they stink, but I don't subject others to my bad habit's residual. Be SURE to take them out of your pocket before putting your shirt or pants in the wash. Dang I gotta quit!

 

Wow, I didn't know so many others would agree...thought it had become a socially accepted by now...HarleyScuba and Bossman...thanks for trying to be a considerate smoker... The comment about spit is funny...my dad dips snuff and I always lead when we ride together...for obvious reasons!

 

I used to smoke, and I used to throw them out the window, I didn't really consider the effects of throwing them out.&nbsp\\; I used to believe they just disappeared into the ether
I'm just glad I quit smoking.&nbsp\\; I know what you mean about them pegging you in the face shield, but we do get crap like rocks and bugs coming at us all the time so I guess it's just par for the course.

 

as a smoker (well, 5 days into the patch and no smoking) i also hate it when people toss butts- i surf too, and it is disgusting to see them in the water or anywhere for that matter.&nbsp\\; Don't label all smokers as irresponsible, just most of them?

 

I see several signs here in central Ohio "Cigatette Butts are Litter".&nbsp\\; They are usually well mulched with Butts.

 

I smoke.&nbsp\\; Often throw the butt out the window, but I try to remember to bring an empty bottle with me.&nbsp\\; I'll tell you this though, I always at least check my rear view mirror and I'll swallow that butt before I'd go throwing it out the window while a motorcycle is behind me.

Washington state has a great law\\; littering is $100+ ticket... butt (pun!), a lit cigarette is $1000 ticket.
